Out of state referrals and referral fees 6 Years, 7 Months ago Karma: 0
I am licensed to practice law in South Carolina and Florida. If i refer a matter, for example, a personal injury case to a Texas attorney, can i claim a referral fee on the transferred case or do i need to be licensed in that state in order to claim a referral fee? I research SC and FL Code of Ethics and they were both silent as to whether an attorney could claim a referral fee on out of state matters.
