You can always apply regardless of your LSAT score & GPA. Based on the information you provided, your chance of receiving an "admit" from your school of choice may not be strong.

I would call the law school and talk to someone in the admissions department. Tell them your situation and see what they recommend. For example, they may say that they have already filled their first year seats for the next entering class, or they could say that based on the current applicant pool, your chances are better now than in the past. This type of insight would greatly assist you in determining whether to apply to the school.

Is it really OK to call a law school admissions committee? Seems like they'd hate getting all those calls!

I'm sure the law schools get many calls like that, but it cant hurt. There is also the possibility that you receive some great insight and advice. Its worth the risk.

You know, sometimes if you are on the edge of acceptance, a well written personal statement can make all the difference. Law schools are impressed by different things, one being a personal statement. Get someones attention and you may get your wish. Remember the basic stats these schools follow are just generally what they are looking for. Its not all they are looking for. Calling the admission office is a good idea, they will give you a feel of the factors that school is looking for when it comes down to admissions, you may even make a friend if you are lucky. The general stats reported are not the only thing to consider when applying, they are only a starting point for reporters to provide information. they are a start, not an end. Follow up and do your research and you might be surprised.
Good luck.

Post edited by: LK311, at: 2008/01/06 17:04

That is exactly right. The stats reported on the mean in this process. Contact the school, try to make a friend. But, sometimes, a good personal statement can make all the difference in the world, or your undergrad extraciricular activties, or the associations you belong to. the fight is not over, if you want to get into that school you will find out what they are looking for beyond numbers. good luck.
