2.8 GPA - 156 diagnostic - Criminal Background 1 Year, 5 Months ago

Hey guys,
I know many people ask this question (with different variables); however, to prevent myself from going into a full on anxiety attack - I wanted to touch base with someone who may have some insight.
I'm aiming for a 164 on my LSAT at the bare minimum, and by criminal record - I mean was arrested for a DUI (BAC was legal, age was not) and a possession of marijuana charge - both separately, and both within 6 months of eachother in 2009. I have completed all requirements for the Court, but it greatly affected my school work.
I did a semester program in D.C. - where I got a 3.98 while studying Justice and interning.. however, this was the semester before my arrests. The following semester, all of the above occurred. Between dealing with legal issues, court requirements (including a 3 day jail term), working 2 jobs, and going to school full time .. let's just say I wasn't at my best. However, as anyone who knows me will attest to - I was BORN to go to law school. Overall, I'm a solid individual with an incredible work ethic (I've held a job, if not two, consistently since I was 14), and I want this more than anything. I lived on my own at the age of 16, got into college following a difficult childhood (statistical phenomenon), and have received no assistance to be where I am. Unfortunately, this means I've had to raise myself and with the lack of life experience - steered myself into this situation through two moments of utter stupidity.
I have learned, but I know that it will not be overlooked. What are my odds of getting in somewhere atleast T2 or T3? I have my heart set on Richmond, but it's not looking good according to the stats. Please help me calm down my irrational nerves. Thanks.

ashaurora, i think that anything is possible, even a 9 pt jump from your practice exams to the actual LSAT. When are you taking the LSAT? Oct or Dec 2010?
Regarding the criminal record....you are not the first to have one and apply to LS. The problem with the DUI occurred recently. The best you can do is completely explain it on the application and show how you turned a negative into a positive.
What was your Ugrad degree? A 2.8 is low, so i would add an explanation into the factors that lead to your overall GPA, such as work, medical, etc.
I would definatiley relax. A strong LSAT can over shadow the GPA.

I applied to Richmond with a 3.11 GPA and an LSAT of 159 and got in. So, i think you will have a good shot, especially if you are a double minority (african american and female)
