the best way to get rid of a family member as a client is to charge them. When they get a bill, they stop calling!

You have to charge family and friends something, otherwise you will just work for free and free doesnt pay the bills!

Family as clients are great when starting out a law practice. You will soon find out that you need other better paying clients in order to sustain your practice and your livelihood.

I am not practicing law yet, but all of my family come to me asking for me to review contracts, buy/sell a car ect and i can only imagine how they will flock to me when i am actually practicing law. It will be hard to ask for payment for my time, but hopefully they will just offer to pay.
