I stopped paying my credit card in Sept.09. I just received two letters from collection agencies. I plan on sending them DV letters.

I plan on filing chapter seven in approx. two months. (April 2010 ).
Sholud I be worried about garnishment of my paycheck or my bank account being tapped into by creditors at this point ?

If the credit card companies are serving you notice and you dont respond, then you will automatically be in default - judgement which means that the credit card companies can get a writ of garnishment against you. Now, i dont think that the credit card companies could get a default judgement and a writ of garnishment within 2 months, but you never know. So, to answer your question....yes, they can garnish. You are rollin the dice as to whether it will happen before you file for chapter 7.

If you plan on filing bankruptcy then it wont matter if you ignore the request for payments, as the bankruptcy will put a hold on the collection process and after the bankruptcy you can repair you credit because you cant file bakrucptcy for a while and creditors will find security in lending to you again when they know you cant hide behind the bankruptcy court anymore.
