Dec 2010 LSAT 8 Months, 2 Weeks ago

I took the December 2009 LSAT and received my score today. I am really dissappointed with my score as i studied for 3 months and took a Kaplan review course. My practice exams were ranging from 156 to 159, and my actual LSAT score was 154, which is the lowest score i have received since preparing for the LSAT. My GPA is about 3.2 in international finance from Emory, so i wont be able to get into T50 law schools with those numbers. Now i dont know what to do. Take the LSAT again, spending more time and money on preparation or just focus on B-school.

I would retake the LSAT, however, your scores will be averaged. What are your soft factors? I would also take the GMAT to see where you stand. Also consider applying to a joint JD/MBA program. If you apply to a joint JD/MBA program, then the schools may look more favorably on your scores and you will be committing to the school for a longer term and paying more in tuition. Post your softs, as they are important especially as your score was low.

I'm not sure you have a shot anywhere with a 140. Most schools (including the 4th tier law schools) require at least a 150. If you are scoring a 140, did you go in cold for the exam or take a prep course? If you took a course, i would hire a private tutor as you obviously have a fundamental problem with the exam. If you correct the problem your score will likely skyrocket. I would hold off on applying so that you dont waste the application fee, get your hopes up, or get in their system as a low scorer.

amazg123, i agree with abr41 - correct the problem, score higher then get in. The soft economy is causing many people to go back to school for higher education. So, if you apply you will be competing against a lot more applicants and your chances of getting an admin will be slim. Improve you score by getting a professional tutor. Try princeton review or powerscore.
