Unless the book is used in every classroom in the country I don't think authoring law books makes a lot of money.

Figure an author of a law book gets $1/book sale (if they are the sole author), and there are 47,500 law students per year, that's $47,500 max a year.

Yes, $47,500 is a nice supplement, but it's not crazy money - and very few make that much. Most books have distributions of a few thousand.
