If I had a 4.0 cumulative GPA i would not be asking this question. But, my undergrad GPA in computer science was only 3.18. While its above a 3.0 I did not graduate with distinction.

So, should i list my GPA on my resume or only provide such information if its requested? WHat are people doing?

I at least want to get my foot in the door, so if i disclose my GPA upfront then i might not get a change to explain or showcase my other great attributes.

Since you didnt graduate with distinction, i would leave it off your resume. They can always request official transcripts at a later date. I agree with you, dont disclose until you are requested to do so.

thats what i was thinking. my UG GPA was 3.1 something. But i was also going through a divorce and relocating jobs during my final year in school. The GPA doesnt reflect the stress in my life at that time.

i agree with nic, keep the GPA off the result and let them ask for it. Then again, if you dont include it they may ignore the resume because if you had a strong GPA then you would have listed it on your resume.

Generally if your GPA is below a 3.0 you shouldn't list is. If your GPA is a 3.1, and you don't list it, then recruiters may just assume that your GPA is below a 3.0 -- and that's not what you want to convey either.

If you need help writing your resume you should try this guy: http://joblesslawyer.com/resumes/

I got alot of really great advice on my resume using his service and they answered all my questions like these as well.

Good luck on your job hunt!
