Super Drunk Statute Passed 11 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I am posting this as an advisory: The Michigan Legislature has passed Michigan's new super drunk statute. What is it? The Legislature has passed a law that makes a person with a .15 BAC level guilty of super drunk driving. The highlights as far as penalities go are that if you are caught they will not revoke your license, but all the cars in your household will have to have an interlock device placed on them for a period of one year. Court sentencing is heightened. There will be mandatory drug intervention therapy required and other similar sanctions. The bill is still pending in the State senate, but it has a good chance of passing. So take this as a warning, it is turing into a military state out there as far as drunk driving is concerned. Mostly because it generates so much money for the courts and the government. Especially by way of driver responsibility fees.

I am not in support of drunk driving. But, lets be a little serious here, MI is becoming a police state. Who decides that a .15 is superdrunk. Even the liturature on this stuff says that everyone metablizes alcohol at different rates and different amounts effect people differently. But, we do not accomdate differences in people, everyone just gets the same treatment, whether they were guilty of the crime or not. This is nuts in my opinion.

Check out the link below. An Assemblyman from NY was pulled over, blow a 0.07 percent, which is just below the legal limit of 0.08, but had blown only a half-breath. His lawyer said she would challenge the use of the test. WHat a great idea!
