Just out of curiosity, how long are people staying at law firms before they jump ship into the corporate arena?

I am sick of the billable hour routine and look forward to a change. The economy sucks and major corporate players are struggling, but i have an SEC background and want to get away from the traditional law firm environment to create a more work/life balance.

Thoughts? Comments?

I think that women move to corporate from private more than men as they need more time off to raise a family.

The money is in private practice not in corporate and with this shitty economy, your job is not safe so its better to work at a firm even if you have to work a ton of hours and track your billables.

Thats interesting, as i was expecting you to say that the hourly rate is actually higher for corporate law jobs as the hourly requirement is lower thereby providing a more balance work-life balance.

The money is important in this economy, but if you are not happy at your job, then how important is the money?

SEC securities jobs that are not at law firms are usually government related. If anyone comes across a government related SEC gov, please post it. Thanks.

You maybe right, that based on a hourly rate corporate jobs create better work life balance. Not sure which governmental agency hires SEC attorneys.

Check out this article on CNN which says that the FBI is hiring some 3,000 people. Consider applying for FBI jobs?

What does the FBI pay for someone with +10 years of law experience?
