negotiating away debt 1 Month, 4 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Before I start LS, I wanted to get rid of my credit card debt. I have about $4k on my Advanta CC and about $2k on my American Express. I'm not working yet as I am getting ready for the LSAT. If I call the creidt card compnay and ask for some sort of abatement will this hurt my credit? If I tell the credit companies that i'm goning to LS then they might not give me a reduction as they may think that I will make money in the future and try to tap my wages.

It will show a settled account designation on your credit report. A negative mark, but better than a charge off or other mark on your credit.

Does anyone know anything about these debt relief agency? I have heard some real nightmares from people that have used them.
