There has been a lot of talk lately regarding teh rising cost of gas. It has also been said that there is more supply than demand, but the price of oil keeps going through the roof because of these so-called oil speculators. the airlines are demanding that these speculators be regulated. why? because for every dollar increase it is reported that northwest airlines incurs a $42 million increase in what it pays for fuel. that's nuts. just wondering what others thought about all this.

You know this topic hits me pretty hard. I commute to school, and filling up is getting harder and harder. If it would help they should reguate the speculators. I also hear because teh dollar is soo weak right now, that foreign investment in the market is also driving the cost of oil up. Its cheaper by like 40% for europeans to invest in the american market. we really need help, but Obama is not it.

First, I agree, Obama does not have the experience. Second, if it really is these speculators causing all this trouble, driving up the cost of oil, and as a result, food, regulate it. While things should naturally get more expensive through the usual course of inflation, this is just too much of a spike in such a short amount of time. It was less than $3.00 a gallon less than a year ago, now we are at $4/gal, and before that it was $2 two years ago. Its too much too fast.

I never expected to go up so fast. someone asked me if I thought gas would get over $4/gal last year, and I said no way, peeps would stop driving. I can't believe I was this wrong.

I drive an suv, it makes me feel safer. Now I have to think of getting rid of it for a smaller car because it is expensive to keep it going. We need to fix this problem with the dollar and I think that will go a long way.
