CA,
My friend had unfortunately met a car accident lately.
I would like to confer with you guys if what should be done, it was an enigma really.
Facts: After the startling occurrence he immediately leave the scene. Eventually, he was caught after which he admitted fault.
He waited for several hours following the customary procedures.
Then he was ask to sign some papers. It was later found out that the said papers was from the other driver’s insurance company. I think the content showed a release from liability.
appreciated

Your question really is not clear to me. Where was he held, at the police station or post? And if so, how did the insuranc company get to him there? How did they even know where to find him to get him to sign a potential release?

Re:car accident
A concern friend you are.
Ideally, after a car accident, whether your are at fault or not, you should not admit fault.
Though you are vulnerable for just about anything including admitting liability, you should avoid making admissions.
What you must do is to confer with a personal injury lawyer, for all you know it may be shown that you were not actually at fault.
The improper admission may work against your claim later on.
Leaving the scene is a bad move.
The signature may have an effect, but may still be contested.
Confer with an attorney at the soonest...
Ease up..

The relayed facts from your friend may lack some info.
Whatever events that transpire, here are some relevant info.
Foremost, seek the help of car accident lawyer in your area so that your legal claims are assessed sooner.
The big ”Don’ts” following a car accident:
• Do not admit fault.
• Do not make any admissions
• Do not leave the scene of the crime
• Do nor subscribe to any document without first contacting your lawyer
The foregoing could make or break your claim.
