Health Care fraud 6 Months, 1 Week ago

I received a statement of benefits from the insurance company. It appears that my doctor is submitting claims for payment to my insurance company for procedures that were not performed on me. I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt that it was a mistake or clerical error, but it has happened twice now. I told the insurance company and they are investigating it. Who else should I report this too? Thats why my premiums keep rising. Its especially difficult to pay for health insurance as a student.

have you called the doc to make sure that your not mistaken. these docs sometimes call a procedure one thing to you, but its technical name is something else, just a thought.

the doctor told me to talk to his medical biller and the medical biller didnt want to justify anything to me. She said she was too busy and that my insurance would not go up if that was what i was worried about.

Mistake once, justified. Mistake further, not.
Really difficult situation you are in. Better, ask for assistance first with a lawyer or a friend who has deep knowledge with the procedure that entail in the insurance thing.

I found your story compelling and on the tragic side.
Good thing you report the same with the insurance company.
You can report the event to the professional regulations for possible ethical infraction.
At most, before you make a further legal move confer first with an Attorney.

Check out the listed indictments by federal prosecutors and you will see that medical billing fraud is running rampant among doctor. Doctors have a license to steal and people paying insurance premiums get stuck with the bill.
