if i assign someone the right to reproduce my art work, will I loose the copyright to it? Does my copyright get diminished?

I don't think you want to assign your right to reproduce your art work. I think you are better off granting a limited license under specific terms with a graduated fee for the length of time used, or number of copies reproduced, with a definite expiration period. That provides you a whole lot more protection in the long run. Or at least something to this effect.
