Tax Restructuring Proposal 1 Year, 9 Months ago Karma: 5
Okay, here we go again. The great Governer Jennifer Granholm has apparently released her new tax restructuring proposal. I have taken the liberty of entitling the document 1001 ways to tax the F%$#$ out of your Citizens. Here is the gist of the 10 pages of ridiculous rhetoric.

Instead of eliminating the small business tax, Cupcake wants to substiute a different tax; in addition to the new tax on the service industry. But, wait, it gets better. Guess what other taxes she wants to hike-up, yet again. Yep, you guessed it, another increase on gas, tobacco, and liquor. Apparently the tobacco companies have figured out if they produce little cigars instead of ciggarettes, they can avoid part of the current tobacco tax. And that just is not acceptable to our grand governer -but wait there's more... This goofy governer now wants to de-couple from the federal tax scheme with regard to the estate tax.

Now, I'm not going to lie to anyone. I have no idea what it means to de-couple from the federal tax scheme. I can barely de-couple two toy train cars. But, sure as I'm sitting here, I know it will somehow negate any tax benefit the federal government is trying to give us on estate taxes with the current phase scheme that is suppose to last until 2010. This little change wil apparently raise an additional $119 million for the state.

Wait its gets better; she wants to tax milk. Currently, foods sold for immediate consumption are taxed, but, foods sold at are near room temperture, according to this bill, like milk, are not subject to sales tax; and Governer Jenny certainly cannot allow this to stand. Milk in her opinion should also be taxed. Why the hell not. Only about 10% of our population already can't buy milk for their children, what's another few percent. But, nevermind what I have to say, the proposal goes on and on. She wants to tax certain phone calls to and from Michigan, certain interstate trucking, and so on and so on. Read it yourself. Oh, and of course she is not backing off the service industry tax.

I am sure more ranting will soon follow...
