Being that the market is what it is, are you all finding that you can hire an atty fresh out of school for $30k-$40k to start? Even attys 5 years out are being let go and are working for cheap. Anyone else experiencing this?

I think you are talking about those attorneys at the bottom of the barrel with little practical experience, no client base, and graduated in the bottom 20 of their law school class. Those that are let go from firms reposition themselves in corporate American or do something other than practice law.
Tracking billables gets old after a while. Its not for everyone.

Not necessarily, it's a bad economy. While I agree that they wouldn't have a book of business fresh out of school, and they're probably not in the top 10% of their graduating class, they're still bright young lawyers.
