Anyone familiar with setting up a non-profit? I get requests to set them up and people want to know if they set up the non-profit if they can be put on salary? What type of reporting requirements are there and what type of scrutiny is associated with filing a non-profit.

There has to be a legitimate non-profit purpose in order to get IRS approval from the entity. Creating a charitable entity just to put yourself on payroll is not a legtimate purpose. What is your client's intended purpose? What activities will it be conducting?
