waive an appeal 5 Months ago Karma: 2
IRS wants my client to waiver his right to appeal in return to a settlement of the case. In what situations would I not want to sign the waiver?

Are you in assessment, collections or appeal? Are there legall issues in dispute or are you in agreement with the IRS assessment?

tax issue is in appeals. they want to send it back to collections if we sign the waiver. We need more time to gather information before we accept their determination.

Dont sign the waiver if you need more time to gather info. If you sign the waiver and can not product the support you need in time then you lose. If you cant gather then info in time then go to appeals with the info
