I have clients that have not paid me for services provided. How long do I have to wait to write of the debt?

Is this a business bad debt?

Are you accrual or cash basis?

Is there an accrual for service revenue on your books?

You cannot take a bad debt expense for your services as you have no basis in the service provided. However, if you incurred expenses on behalf of a client, those expenses can be written off.
