Doctors encouraging C-Sections 7 Years, 9 Months ago Karma: 0
Very interesting articles on the trend of doctors to "encourage" C-Sections rather than natural births; likely to reduce malpractice exposure and to increase compensation to the physicians.

C-sections has become "best practices" for many obgyn's, especially if the mother is older than 35, and they usually schedule a C-section if the mother is high risk or over 40 to aviod natural birth complications that can harm the baby or teh mother.

See link below for a very interesting article on the hazards of Cesarean delivery. Cesarean sections are not inherently good. Cesareans have risks and some may not be medically justified. Surgery carries with it inherent risks and can never be taken lightly. Many significant complications are associated with Cesareans in the medical literature (wound infection, hemorrhage, skin lesions, urogenital fistula, gastrointestinal problems, omental masses, pelvic lesions, hematoma, urinary tract infection, infertility and death.

There are a lot of studies that show that since the median age of pregnant women has increase over the past decade, the natural births pose significant complications for mother and that while a natural birth is the preferred method of delivery by most doctors, in order to preserve the health of the mother, a cesarean deliver reduces the stress on the mother to a greater extent than natural deliver.
