I have client physician that is under audit by the State of Texas Medicaid Services office. The auditor has been reviewing patient charts and billing claims. It has recently come to my attention that the Attorney General's office is watching the audit and the auditor is reporting back to the attorney general. Is this normal or is the client going to get hit with criminal charges? I could use some direction and would appreciate some advice.

thats a hint that your client is under criminal investigation. because what you disclose as the attorney general's office is building their case.

I noticed that they keep delaying the meetings and that the auditor references that he need approval and direction from his manager. I asked if my client was under criminal investigation and he said "should he be"? I responded no.
I sent my client to a criminal attorney who will accompany the client to the remainder of the audit. I hope i didnt cause the client any harm. This was my first time going through an insurance audit.
