Have you every peered into the faculty parking lot to see what the faculty drive? At DCL at MSU, its pathetic that the faculty drive such generic cars. You would think that as law professors they would be making a strong 6 digit salary and have a little bit extra to put toward their cars.
What does the faculty parking lot look like at other schools?

you cant judge wealth by the car you drive. you should know that. Besides, law school profs dont make as much as practicing attorneys unless they author books.

Unless the book is used in every classroom in the country I don't think authoring law books makes a lot of money.
Figure an author of a law book gets $1/book sale (if they are the sole author), and there are 47,500 law students per year, that's $47,500 max a year.
Yes, $47,500 is a nice supplement, but it's not crazy money - and very few make that much. Most books have distributions of a few thousand.
