cheaters! 2 Years, 7 Months ago
I am convinced that some students in my 2nd year class have prior exams. There are a group of study buddies that consistently score in the top 10% in every class and are usually not prepared for class discussions. I want to launch an investigation or bring this to the dean's attention but i also dont want to get involved, questioned further, or even called out. I dont need the headache. Can someone who have been in my shoes offer for professional courtesy and give me some advice?

My law school permits take-home final exams which i believe encourages cheating. The take-home exam option was implemented last year, and it permits students to self-schedule their exams which will give them the privilege to space exams more effectively and efficiently than the school possibly could

Students are quite obviously prohibited from discussing the exams with other students until the end of the examination period. I have not heard of any students cheating this system, and I am proud that school administrators recognized the professionalism of law students, and granted this privilege.

as long as there are incentives to cheat people will continue to do it. Law school is very competitive and good grades help you secure a job, get a scholarship, get on law review, graduating with academic honors, and more. Thus, the incentive to cheat in law school can be high.

I think that would look great on your resume, 3.9 GPA and expelled from law school for cheating. WOW, very impressive. If everyone cheated in law school and then cheated in court by paying off the judge then this county would be in serious trouble. Where does it end>? You cant justify cheating in school and then say it have no application after school. Its all or nothing.

I believe that attorneys are bound by ethical standards. Dont you have to pass character and fitness before you get licensed as an attorney? I think so. So why not start acting ethical in law school?
