Prep Test # 45 - Need Assistance 3 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Stimulus: Art theft from museums is on the rise. Most stolen art is sold to wealthy private collectors. Consequently, since thieves steal what their customers are most interested n buying, museums ought to focus more on the security on their most valuable pieces.

Question: The argument depends on assuming which one of the following?

Answer (: Art pieces that are not very valuable are not very much in demand by wealthy private collectors.

I chose the answer dealing with security (D) because I thought that was the subject of the author's conclusion. Any explanations would be great.

Thanks!

The hole (assumption) in this argument is that wealthy investors are interested in the stolen art the thieves obtain. The security is for those pieces. Which also means, the inexpensive art is not what wealthy investors want and do not "necessarily" needs security since theyre not targeted to be stolen.
