What are the chances of transferring from a 20-30 ranked school to a lower ranked school in that same ranking after your first year? The motive would be transferring to an in-state school (which would be a lot cheaper, saving almost 80k) and wanting to practice in that state...Do you still have to be in the top 10% or do they look less at your ranks when transferring down?

I wouldnt be too short sighted. If you transfer down to a lower school your chances of getting that top job are diminished. So you would be saving money in the short term and losing money in the long term. I'd say stay at the better LS and borrow up till ur eyeballs!
