ABA 2 Years, 10 Months ago  
I read that membership in the ABA is down as the economy has taken its toll on attorneys. ABA membership is elective. Not sure what the benefit of an ABA membership is, but I was curious why others would subscribe.

The ABA offers many well written publications to its members and thats why people subscribe.
if membership is down its due to economic factors, not because the ABA is not important.

The ABA reports statistics on licensed and active attorneys registered with the various states. So, i'm sure that some attorneys shelf their license, but they still keep it.

I use my ABA membership for discounts on health insurance, continuing education seminars and my ABA Visa card gives to cash back. The discounts and money i save more than pay for the membership. In addition the membership provides for quarterly newsletters and articles. I think its a great value.
