I met two friends from ugrad today that are starting law school next month (fall). Both guys took the LSAT twice and claim that law schools are not necessarily averaging th LSAT scores, but rather, they are taking on the highest un-submitted score. Anyone heard the same or similar story?

I've heard the same thing. Law schools are more likely to look at and consider the highest LSAT score rather than averaging the scores. Hopefully the most recent LSAT is the highest score. I wouldn't want to have to explain to a law school why your most recent score is lower than an earlier score.

Most law schools still average the scores, but if there is a substantial increase in the most recent score, then that may carry more weight with the adminssion committe.
I think that they should just consider the highest score. Thats what they do for MCAT and DAT applicants.

I agree with all of the posts. Law schools should follow the lead of med schools. The highest score should be used, especially if there is a major improvement between scores.

Since law school admission committees change their admin criteria and policies without notice, i would send a letter to the school asking that they consider only the most recent score (hopefully its the highest score) and reference other law schools whos policy is to accept the highest LSAT, rather than averaging scores.

The LSDA report discloses all scores, even if law schools claim to accept only the highest score. I wonder if there is a way to have LSDAS only reveal the highest score to law schools???
