how do you know when to cancel your score? 1 Year, 7 Months ago Karma: 0
The risk with taking the LSAT is that you f-up and score low. If so, and your retake, your scores will be averaged. This will hurt your chances of getting into a top law school. Taking the LSAT and thinking that you bombed may not be a good indication that you actually scored low, so what should one look for if they are worried about getting their LSAT scored after taking the exam? How would you know that you actually bombed the LSAT?

You gotta cancel your score within the cancelation period, otherwise you are stuck with the score you earned for that exam. Law schools will average your LSAT scores and take the average, so a low score will hurt your chances of getting an admit. Unlike med school where they take the highest mcat score.

If you feel as if you bombed the test then definitely cancel your score. If you studied practice exams and are familiar with your confidence of knowing the correct answers, then in your gut you should know if you need to cancel your lsat score.

The problem is that your "gut feeling" is not a true science and your gut is usually controlled by fear or anxiety. So, your gut can say you failed when in reality you did ok. I thinks its a crap shoot if you cancel or keep your score. The only way i would cancel my score is if i guessed on most of the problems or if i mis-gridded the answers sheet.

If you spent any time practicing old exams you will know exactly how you did on the actual exam and whether you should cancel your score. If your guts tells you to cancel, then do exactly that!. Trust your gut!

i think the field is split. I think it really comes down to your scores prior to taking the LSAT. If your practice exam scores were coming in around 165 and you are worried of getting a 160, then thats better than if your practice exams were coming in at 155 and you are worried about getting a 150. The higher your average score, the more confidence you will have in your f*** ups.
