My LSAT test prep doesnt really cover the writing sample much. Is it important? Do schools even look at it? Or maybe it will help me if i score low on the LSAT????

Your writing sample is important. You have to remember that, you are competing for a seat in any given law school with candidates that essentially have the same qualifications that you do. You best chance is to find a way that you can stand apart from the rest of the crowd. What makes you different. A good writing sample can do that. The same a good personal statement can make it so, or grades or whatever. You application package as a whole needs to include the best of what you have to offer, including a good writing sample. Do not under estimate the importance of it. It is even more helpful if your writing sample is something that catches someone's interest, a current topic of some sort with personal analysis on it. Don't discount it importance.

Thanks for the advice. I wont ignore the writing sample. I need all the help i can get. I just wanted to know if i can skip the writing so i can concentrate on the m/c q's.

Good luck. But anyone this concerned right from the begininng I bet does not need it because she has probably prepared very well. Of course concentrate on the M/C questions, but watch your timing and you will have everything you need to get done, done. Again, all things being equal, a writing sample can set you apart. But, as you probably know, focus on getting the highest overall score, that is always the most important thing. Good luck again.

I was reviewing this thread and I just wanted to add that I think it's important that applicants focus on writing well when drafting their writing sample, rather than telling the school whats on their resume. Good writing techniques are essential for success in law school.
