norton No, not necessarily. He may be allowed to practice again. First, he has to apply. Second he has to present some very siginificant proofs. Third, those proofs have to be deemed enough and that what happened in the past, will not happen again. After all this, maybe, only maybe, might he be granted a license to practice again, but likely while on a probationary period for a certain number of years with certain reporting requirements.

Sumo That is my understanding, but the things you have to prove at reapplication are fairly stringent. Its not a cheap process from what I understand, between all the filings, proofs, and hearing.
norton It varies from state to state, but the general understading seems to be that it is revoked for a period of years, and you may reapply at the end of the period. Which on average seems to be five years.
Kera If an attorney is convicted of a felony, is their license automatically suspended or revoked? If revoked, are they able to apply for reinstatement? Does it depend on the State? On the crime?
