norton Witholding an employees pay has serious consequences. An suspicsion is simply not enough. Contact you local employers' right division right away/. each state has one.
Tomas P. As Steve recommend, contact you state's wages and hours division to file a complaint. They will contact you employer and request that he release the money.

If you owe your employer anything, then he will have to file a complaint against you separately.
Kash My ex employer is withholding my pay. Who do i contact to make him release the money and get him in trouble?
steve Both federal and state laws work together to protect employee pay. If the employee was caught stealing, then you cannot withhold his pay to cover the cost of the theft. Generally, the employee must be paid by the next pay period his full pay (less payroll taxes) and a separate lawsuit must be brought to recover the theft/embezzelment.

Micky B can an employer withhold an employee's pay if the employer thinks the employee was stealing? What labor laws control this area?
