steve Thats a good question. If the IRS made a default assessment on your client it maybe possible to apply for reconsideration. This application for reconsideration must be in writing stating the reason why the taxpayer did not response, or that the taxpayer did not receive notice. Then the taxpayer must submit support to prove his claims on the tax return. I recommend that you try to get a Agent involved and then submit the support rather than just submitting the support.

Tomas P. Client doesnt speak english well and is under IRS audit. IRS sends him a letter requesting information and he doesnt reply. IRS then makes an assessment against him and how he wants to fight the assessment. Is he screwed because he did not respond timely?

Please provide some assistance.
