The cost of obtaining a legal education (including room & board and books) continues to soar at a rate greater than the rate of increase that the largest law firms are paying top law school graduates. So, before you apply to law school consider researching and applying for scholarship funds to help subsidize your law school education.

There are those who new they wanted to go to law school by the time they hit the third grade. There are those who went to law school to pursue careers in politics. And then there are those who went to law school by default, knowing they wanted to continue their education but not certain what avenue to take. Undoubtedly, a Juris Doctorate degree is invaluable. It opens doors that many of did not even know existed.

Socrates was a Greek philosopher who is well known for his critical thinking abilities.
Socratic teaching focuses on asking students questions, not by giving the student the answers. The object is for the professor to probe the mind of the student by continually asking questions and the student responding with a disciplined thought process, which focuses on logical relationships and critical reasoning.
It was Socrates’ belief that the most effective way of teaching a student to argue logically was to engage the individual in a philosophic dialogue, in which he would attempt to argue a point.

Many law students use study aids at some point during their law school education. Study aids are materials other than your casebook that help explain the law. Study aids often provide plain English explanations and useful examples. However, study aids are not a substitute for the course casebook, other required reading material, or your hard work.
